About breakers
There are two kinds of AC breakers, which affect PLC communication.
(1) Thermal-operated breaker
There is no particular attenuation factor. If it is a breaker in a distribution board for general
households, there will be no problems.
(2) Fully electromagnetic breaker
When the current capacity is 10 A or less, the electromagnetic coil wire is thin and the L
value is increased by rolling a lot of wires to increase the magnetic force. As a result, the
attenuation increases in the shortwave band used by the PLC.
When installing the PLC adaptor with a breaker for the safe side in the communication route, a
"heat-operated" circuit breaker is recommended.
Especially with a "fully electromagnetic breaker", a small one of 10 A or less has a filter effect. Since
the power / signal passes through the coiled structure, the coil's linearity becomes smaller as a
result of the small size (small current capacity), and as a result it is a filter that affects PLC
communication.
Even with a "fully electromagnetic breaker" of 20 A or more, since it has an attenuation of about 5
dB, it is preferable to use "thermo-mechanical (bimetal) breakers" as much as possible, compared
with "fully electromagnetic breakers" of 10 A or less which will be smaller.
