(For DVD VIDEO)
A DVD VIDE O disc is co m prised of "titles" and each title
m ay be divided into "chapters." For exa m ple, if a DVD
VIDE O disc contains so m e m ovies, each m ovie m ay have
its o w n title nu m ber, and each m ovie m ay be divided
into so m e chapters. In a DVD VIDE O K ARA O KE disc, each
song usually has its o w n title nu m ber and does not have
chapters.

Control function
What is Playback Control (PBC) function?
The Playback Control function allo ws you to enjoy m enu-
driven operation and high-resolution still im ages w hich
have a resolution four tim es greater than m oving
pictures.
• High-resolution still image display
You can display high-quality im ages four tim es
clearer than m oving pictures.
• Menu-driven playback
A selection m enu is displayed w hen you start
playing a Video CD or SVCD disc with the Playback
Control feature. The selection m enu sho ws a list of
nu m bers for selection. So m e discs m ay sho w
m oving pictures or a divided screen.
You can interact with the screen using the m enu
display to select and play an entry.

about PBC (Playback Control)).

Care and handling of discs

How to handle discs
W hen handling a disc, do not touch the surface of the
disc. Since discs are m ade of plastic, they are easily
da m aged. If a disc gets dirty, dusty, scratched or warped,
the im ages and sound will not be picked up correctly,
and such a disc m ay cause the player to m alfunction.
Label side
Do not da m age the label side, stick paper to or use any
adhesive on its surface.
Storage
M ake sure that discs are kept in their cases. If discs are
piled on top of one another without their protective
cases, they can be da m aged. Do not put discs in a
location w here they m ay be exposed to direct sunlight,
or in a place w here the hu midity or te m perature is high.
Avoid leaving discs in your car!
Maintenance of discs
If there are fingerprints or other dirt adhering to a disc,
wipe with a soft dry cloth, m oving fro m the center
outwards.
If a disc is difficult to clean, wipe with a cloth m oistened
with water. N ever use record cleaners, petrol, alcohol or
any anti-static agents.
CAUTION
The im age m ay be so m etim es poor or noisy due to
defects in the disc itself.
