To start playback

Press 3.
The unit starts playback fro m the beginning.
About screen saver function
• A television m onitor m ay have an im age burned into it if a
static im age is displayed for a long tim e. To prevent this,
the unit auto m atically activates the screen saver function if
a static picture, such as an on-screen display or m enu, is
displayed for over 5 minutes.
• Pressing any buttons on the unit or the re m ote control unit
will release the screen saver function and return to the
previous display.
• You can also turn off the screen saver function (see page 51).
About On-screen guide icons
• W hen you m ake an operation, you m ay see the follo wing icons displayed over the picture for about 3 seconds. These have the
follo wing m eanings.
You can set the unit not to display these icons above via the preference settings described on page 53.

A ppears at the beginning of pause m ode.
A ppears at the beginning of fast forward/backward playback with the current speed (see page 18).
A ppears at the beginning of slo w-m otion playback with the current speed (see page 19).
A ppears at the beginning of Repeat playback m ode (see page 28).
A ppears at the beginning of a scene recorded fro m m ultiple angles (see page 32).
A ppears at the beginning of a scene recorded with m ultiple audio languages (see page 31).
A ppears at the beginning of a scene recorded with m ultiple subtitle languages (see page 30).
A ppears w hen the unit does not accept your operation because of disc contents, structure, playback status etc.
N ote that so m e operations m ay not be perform ed even if

• When the RESUME function is "ON" or "DISC RESUME" and a resume point is set, pressing 3 starts playback from that point
instead of the beginning. See page 17.
• During playback, the display window shows the title/chapter or track number being played.
• During DVD VIDEO playback, pressing 3 moves the playback position back 10 seconds before the current position. See page 22
for details.

To stop playback completely

Press 7.
The unit stops playback.
• If you press 0 during playback, the unit stops playback and opens the disc tray.

To stop playback temporarily

Press 8.
The unit pauses playback. To resu m e playback, press 3.
