6. Check that the spark plug w asher is in good condition, and thread
the spark plug in by hand to prevent cross-threading.
7. After the spark plug is seated, tighten w ith a spark plug w rench to
com press the w asher.

If installing a new spark plug, tighten 1/2 turn after the spark plug
seats to com press the w asher. If reinstalling a used spark plug,
tighten 1/8 1/4 turn after the spark plug seats to com press the
w asher.
The spark plug must be securely tightened. An improperly tightened
spark plug can become very hot and could damage the engine.
Never use spark plugs w hich have an improper heat range. Use only
the recommended spark plugs or equivalent.

SPARK ARRESTER MAINTENANCE

If the generator has been running, the m uffler w ill be very hot. Allow it
to cool before proceeding.
The spark arrester m ust be serviced every 100 hours to m aintain its
efficiency.
1. Rem ove the eight 5 m m screw s
and rem ove the m uffler protector.
2. Rem ove the 4 m m screw
the spark arrester from the m uffler
3. Use a brush to rem ove carbon deposits from the spark arrester
screen.
4. Inspect the spark arrester for breaks or holes, and replace it if
necessary.
5. Install the spark arrester and the m uffler in the reverse order of
disassem bly.
