Pre-Operation Check; Engine Oil - Honda EG5000X Owner's Manual

Before beginning your pre-operation checks, be sure the generator is
on a level surface and the engine sw itch is in the OFF position.

ENGINE OIL

Engine oil is a m ajor factor affecting engine perform ance and service
life. Non-detergent and 2-stroke engine oils w ill damage the engine
and are not recommended.
Check the oil level EACH USE
w ith the generator on a level
surface and the engine stopped.
Use 4-stroke m otor oil that
m e e t s o r
requirem ents for API service
classification SJ or later (or
equivalent). Alw ays check the
API SERVICE label on the oil
container to be sure it includes
t h e l et t er SJ o r l at er (o r
equivalent).
SAE 10W-30 is recom m ended for general, all-tem perature use. Other
viscosities show n in the chart m ay be used w hen the average
tem perature in your area is w ithin the indicated range.
1. Rem ove the oil filler cap and w ipe the dipstick clean.
2. Check the oil level by inserting the dipstick into the filler neck
w ithout screw ing it in.
3. If the level is low , fill to the upper lim it of the oil filler neck w ith the
recom m ended oil.
