determination of the safe distance to be
held.
130) The device cannot apply the maximum
braking force: the vehicle will not be
stopped completely.
131) The radar is provided with defrosting
system. For this reason, it can reach high
temperatures in some conditions. If you
need to operate in the zone surrounding the
sensor, wait for at least 30 seconds from
when the engine is switched off.
IMPORTANT
40) The system may have limited operation
or not work at all in weather conditions such
as: heavy rain, hail, thick fog, heavy snow.
41) The section of the bumper area in front
the sensor or the radar sensor itself must
not be covered with stickers, auxiliary
headlights or any other object.
42) Operation can be adversely affected
by any structural change made to the
vehicle, such as a modification to the front
geometry, tyre change, or a heavier than
standard load of the vehicle.
43) Incorrect repairs made on the front
part of the car (e.g. bumper, chassis) may
alter the position of the radar sensor, and
adversely affect its operation. Go to an Alfa
Romeo Dealership for any operation of this
type.
44) Do not tamper with or carry out any
intervention on the radar sensor or on the
camera on the windscreen glass. In the
event of a sensor failure, contact an Alfa
Romeo Dealership.
162
45) Do not wash with high-pressure jets
in the bumper lower area: in particular do
not operate on the system's electrical
connector. Do not use solvents or abrasive
paste.
46) Be careful in case of repairs and
painting in the zone around the sensor. In
the event of a frontal impact the sensor
may automatically deactivate and display
a warning to indicate that the sensor
needs to be repaired. Even without a
malfunction warning, deactivate the system
operation if you think that the position of
the radar sensor has changed (e.g. due to
low-speed frontal impact as during parking
manoeuvres). In these cases, go to an Alfa
Romeo Dealership to have the radar sensor
realigned or replaced.

The system combines the functions
of the ACC device (Adaptive Cruise
Control with Stop&Go, see the dedicated
paragraph) with a lane centring logic to
control the trajectory of the car holding it
as close as possible in the middle of the
lane and also managing speed.
The system uses information from the
camera located on the windscreen
fig. 164 and the front radar fig. 165 to help
you keep the car in the middle of the lane
at a constant speed.

OPERATION
If the event that the lane marking line
is missing or not correctly recognised,
the Active Driving Assist system may
also use information from adjacent and
preceding vehicles. This condition may
occur in congested traffic, when the
car in front and/or objects around the
car obstruct the lane markings. In this
case, the system can use the queues of
