Getting Support for Your HP Notebook PC
To check the build version
When you communicate with an HP support person, you may need to find out what
version of the software is installed on your computer. You can find information about the
build in the file version.inf in the root directory of your hard disk. (This is a hidden file,
so it you cannot see it, follow the instructions below.) Double-click on the filename to see
the information.
To see hidden files in Windows 98
1. In My Computer, select View, Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Under Hidden Files, choose "Show all files."
4. Click OK.
To see hidden files in Windows 2000
1. In My Computer, select Tools, Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Choose "Show hidden files and folders."
4. Click OK.
