Troubleshooting

Vehicle Computer Problems
Table 10-1
Symptom
Vehicle computer does
not power on or shuts off
suddenly.
Cannot see characters
on display.
Touchscreen not working. Display not properly calibrated.
Optional serial scanner
does not operate.
Possible Cause
The power cable ignition sense wire
(yellow) is not connected properly.
Main power switch on right side of the
vehicle computer is in the Off position.
Power cable not connected properly
or unplugged.
If the vehicle computer is powered by
a vehicle battery, the vehicle battery is
depleted.
Vehicle computer not powered on or
suspended (Power LED is off).
Screen is too bright/dark.
Display not adjusted properly.
The vehicle computer is in Suspend
mode (Power LED is off).
Replacement screen protector was
not applied correctly.
Scanner is not properly connected to
the vehicle computer.
DataWedge application is not enabled
or set to the correct COM Port.
External power is not connected.
Action
Verify that the power cable is connected
properly. See
Electric Forklifts on page
Turn the main power switch on.
Connect power cable to power cable portion
underside of vehicle computer. Turn the main
power switch on.
Replace or charge the vehicle battery.
Press the Power switch on the Quick Access
Panel.
Turn the main power switch on top of the
vehicle computer to the on position.
Adjust the brightness; see
Adjusting the
Brightness on page
3-9.
Select
in the Control Panel settings
Display
and adjust the display.
Press the Power button on the Quick Access
Panel to turn on the vehicle computer.
Recalibrate the screen through the Control
Panel Calibration utility. If problem continues,
contact Motorola Enterprise Mobility Support.

Replace or re-apply screen protector.
Connect the scanner to the COM1 port. Ensure
the proper COM port is selected in the
DataWedge application, see
2-24. If the problem

enabled and set to the correct port. See
