5.1.3 Compressor (Comp) 压缩机
Audio signals have very wide peak-to-average signal-level ratios (sometimes
referredto as dynamicrange) which is the differencebetween the loudest
level and the softest level.This can createproblemswhen you'resetting
input levelsbecause when enough gain (or volume)is applied to capture
the softest level at its best, one cough, laugh, or excited moment can
overload the input, resulting in distortion... and not the cool kind.
A compressorworks by limiting the dynamic range of an audio sourceto make it
sound moreconsistentandeven. By settingthe maximumlevel,the compressor
makessurethatanyaudiosignalthatexceedsthatvolumeisreducedtomatchit.
Choose between Low, Moderate, High, and De-Ess. Low will provide the least
amount of compression, High will provide the most. Compression presets optimized
for electric guitar, bass guitar, vocals, and acoustic guitar are also available.

Sibilance is the pronounced presence of the "s"or "sh"sound. Depending
on your accentand speech pattern,itcan be moreor less pronounced.
PowerUser Tip:While it maybe charming incasualspeech, sibilancecanquicklybecome
distracting becauseit resonatesat a higher frequency that canbecome gratingwhen
heardrepeatedly.Thegoalofade-esserisnottoremovethe"s"soundentirely,rather,it's
intendedpurposeistolevelitout sothatit'sevenwiththe restof theconsonants.Inother
words, you'll still sound like you.
