Chapter 4
Disassembly/Assembly

Introduction

This chapter contains the procedures and illustrations for the disassembly and reassembly of
the CUP2. There are four main sections: Opening the CUP2, Cabinet Electronics (including
printed circuit boards, assemblies, and audio components), Control Assembly, and Keyboard
Assembly.

Notes, Cautions, Warnings

Please pay special attention to all Notes, Cautions, and Warnings as they not only point out
specic instructions, but also alert you to differences between the CUP2 models.

Cables, Connectors

Most of the cables with connectors are keyed, and therefore cannot be reversed. If a cable’'s
connector is not keyed, the disassembly instructions will caution you. Some at ribbon cables
have locking cable clips. Be sure to reapply the clips when reconnecting these cables.
In some cases, tape fastens cables to printed circuit boards or the cabinet. When disconnecting
cables, always peel back the tape from one side so that the tape remains properly positioned.
Some of the cables that travel throughout the cabinet use tie wraps and cable mounts to secure
and bundle them. Unless the service you are performing requires it, do not cut the tie wraps.
Should you need to do so, be sure to install new tie wraps.
If you disconnected a ground strap during disassembly, be sure to reconnect it when following
the assembly procedure.
