Chapter 2:
The FER785-MM Diode Laser Source is well suited for bench top fiber coupled
experiments including Raman spectroscopy. The laser housing contains a 785 nm
wavelength stabilized multi-mode diode laser with programmable power output up to
475 mW CW. A FC/PC fiber terminal optimized for 105 micron core multimode allows
coupling to the user's excitation fiber for experiments. An FC/PC fiber cap and beam
stop is provided for safety and to prevent dust from accumulating on the fiber
interconnect.

The head of each laser module has the Fergie interlocking cube interface allowing
direct coupling to many optomechanical components designed to accelerate
experiment design and construction. Mounting of the laser to an optical bench is easily
accomplished using the included adapter plate.
Safety features on the laser source include a security key card which allows the laser
source to be locked out and prevents laser emission. Remote safety interlock control is
conveniently provided through a 1/8 inch mono plug on the rear of the housing.
