Preparing the 9008-22L, 9009-22A, or 9223-22H system to permanently remove a PCIe
adapter
To prepare the system to permanently remove a PCIe adapter from the system, complete the steps in this
procedure.
Procedure
1. Take appropriate precautions for avoiding electric shock and for handling static-sensitive devices. For
more information, see "Avoiding electric shock" on page 62 and "Handling static-sensitive devices"
on page 64.
2. Review the locations of PCIe adapter slots and the light-emitting diode (LED) for the PCIe adapter.
The PCIe adapters are viewed at the rear of the system.
Figure 32 on page 49 shows the locations of the PCIe adapters in an 9008-22L, 9009-22A, or
9223-22H system and the locations of the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for the PCIe adapter.
The number of the PCIe adapter slots that are available in the system depends on the number of
system processors in the system. For the PCIe adapter placement information in this system, see
PCIe adapter placement rules and slot priorities for the 9008-22L, 9009-22A, or 9223-22H.
Note: If the PCIe adapter is operating correctly, then the top activity LED is ON (green) and the lower
error amber LED is OFF. Do not attempt to remove a working PCIe adapter.
