Completing the DFE module installation depends on if the module is being installed in
• a new DFE module system (refer to "Completing the Installation of a New System" on
page 3‐30), or
• an established, operating DFE module system (refer to "Completing the Installation of
a DFE Module in an Existing System" on page 3‐32).

Completing the Installation of a New System

In a new system of DFE modules, one of the installed DFE modules will become the
management module on chassis power up, and all DFE modules will automatically be set
to the factory default values. A complete list of the factory default values are provided in
Chapter 3 of the Enterasys Matrix DFE‐Platinum Series Configuration Guide.
After installing all DFE modules into the host chassis and making the connections to the
network, proceed to the following First‐Time Log‐In Using a Console Port Connection
procedure to access the module management startup screen from your PC, terminal, or
modem connection.
