stationary or xed electrical equipment, that surface should
be covered with a steel plate at least .06"(1.6mm) thick,
which should extend not less than 5.90"(150mm) beyond the
equipment on all sides.

ENVIRONMENTAL LIMITATIONS

The Ranger is IP23 rated for use in an outdoor environment. It
should not be subjected to falling water during use nor should any
parts of it be submerged in water. Doing so may cause improper
operation as well as pose a safety hazard. The best practice is to
keep the machine in a dry, sheltered area. Use protective cover
K3588-1 when not in use.

TILTING

recommended undercarriage or trailer. The machine may topple
over if this procedure is not followed. The max weight the lift bale
is rated for is in the Technical speci cations section.

LIFTING

The Ranger
260MPX & 330MPX weigh approximately 515 lbs.
®
(234 kg) each with a full tank of fuel, 446 lbs.(202kg) less fuel. A
lift bail is mounted to the machine and should always be used
when lifting a machine.
WARNING
FALLING EQUIPMENT can cause injury

Keep sparks, ame and cigarettes away from battery.
To prevent EXPLOSION when:
INSTALLING A NEW BATTERY — disconnect negative
cable from old battery rst and connect to new battery
last.
CONNECTING A BATTERY CHARGER — remove
battery from welder by disconnecting negative cable
rst, then positive cable and battery clamp. When
reinstalling, connect negative cable last. Keep well
ventilated.
USING A BOOSTER — connect positive lead to battery
rst then connect negative lead to negative battery lead
at engine foot.

skin.
Wear gloves and eye protection and be
careful when working near battery.
Follow instructions printed on battery.
IMPORTANT: To prevent ELECTRICAL DAMAGE WHEN:
a) Installing new battery.
b) Using a booster.
Use correct polarity — NEGATIVE GROUND.
These welders are shipped with the negative battery cable
disconnected. Make sure that the Engine Switch is in the "OFF"
position. Attach the disconnected cable securely to the negative
battery terminal before attempting to operate the machine. If the
battery is discharged and does not have enough power to start
the engine, see the battery charging instructions in the Battery
section. See Figure A.2
NOTE: These machines are furnished with a wet charged battery;
if unused for several months, the battery may require a booster
charge. Be careful to charge the battery with the correct polarity.
To access the battery, turn the machine OFF. Remove the screws
holding the battery cover and then slide battery out. When
reinstalling, battery cables must be tightly assembled. Do not
pinch battery leads between battery, cover or welder frame.
