The ground coil or bore coil must be filled with a mixture of water and heat transfer fluid (HTF) until a
freeze protection level of about -15°C is reached. The hose, PEM 40 x 2.4mm, holds around one litre per
metre.
IVT recommends Bio-Ethanol / heat transfer fluid. Suitable mixture is 29% Bio-Ethanol / HTF and 71%
water.
Connect two one inch hoses to filling valves 1 and 2. One hose has a submersible pump (min 6 m³/h)
connected at the other end.
The two hoses are placed in a barrel with a volume of at least 100 litres. The barrel is filled with a
mixture of antifreeze and water. Always fill water before antifreeze.
Open valves 1 and 2, shut valve 3. Start the submersible pump (equipped with a particle filter!), and
the system fills with liquid. NOTE: The first couple of litres in the return pipe are usually
contaminated. Therefore collect these in a separate vessel.
Open the expansion vessel valve until the vessel fills to around 2/3.
When the level in the barrel has sunk to 25%, stop the submersible pump, and fill the barrel with the
antifreeze mixture.
When the system is full and air is no longer coming from the return pipe the system is run for at least
a further 30 minutes. You can also start the heat transfer fluid pump to speed up the air venting. Check
that the manual operation switch ( 4) is off (see item g. on the previous page). Start the heat transfer
pump by pressing the on/off button on the display ( 6). The compressor will start after approximately
15 minutes.
When venting is ready open valve 3, shut valve 2, and shortly after also shut valve 1. Disconnect the
hoses and the heat transfer fluid side is ready for operation. NOTE: A slight overpressure in the heat
transfer fluid circuit is beneficial.
