Fire prevention
The top eight causes of house fires are 1. Candles 2. Smoking 3. Electrical and lighting 4. Dryers 5.
Lightning 6. Children playing with fire 7. Christmas trees and 8. Cooking. Candles and cigarettes are the
two biggest dangers. Burning candles and smoking inside your apartments are strictly forbidden
because these actions risk your safety and the safety of others. They are also violations of your lease
(consult 12 Top Lease Violations). For the safety of all, we will act against any resident
breaking the No Candles and No Smoking rules of Aster Field Apartments.

Do not leave unattended pans on your stove or in your oven

Use Christmas tree lights with great caution

Remove lint from dryers to avoid fires
Porches and Balconies
The safety and health of both Aster Fields residents and contractors is extremely important. All
porches and balconies must be kept clear of any items that could hinder a person from accessing the
door or slider, that pose a fire hazard, or that encourage vermin. Never leave pets unattended for any
amount of time on a porch or balcony. Please see Sections 14b and
Laundry rooms are in the basement of each building. You can use coins (quarters) or--if you prefer,
you can pay electronically by downloading the laundry machine company's app on your phone. If a
machine breaks, the number to call is posted on the wall in each laundry area.
Here are some laundry guidelines:

Leave the washing machine door open so the machine can air

Remove lint from dryers--Dryers work better and may cost you less without lint. The lint is also a
fire hazard.
Trash & Recycling
We pick up trash twice a week.
We pick up recyclables once a week (both paper goods and bottles/cans).
However, sometimes we have trash overflow. If you notice, before we do, that our trash or
recycling dumpsters have gotten full before the scheduled pickup day, can you let us know?

Please see the attached flier, which outlines the Single Stream Recycling rules.
Here are some other guidelines to help keep our recycle & trash areas clean:

Separate trash from recyclables. Dumpsters are for trash and recycling bins are for recyclables.
Also, please do not put your trash next the recycling bins, otherwise animals (e.g., raccoons)
WILL tear bags open and scatter trash across the property.

Make every effort to not leave large cardboard boxes on the side of the dumpster; please
breakdown & place inside the recycle dumpster.

Close the plastic cover of the dumpster, in order to keep out the squirrels and other scavenger-
type animals, as well as to assure that a good windstorm does not kick out the contents.
