    MOVING IN We hope you have a great living experience at Aster Fields! Here are a few pointers to help you get started. Keys You will get a set of keys to your unit’s lock. Do not change, alter, or add door locks without permission.

  • Page 9 Toilets: What to Flush It is simple: Only human waste and toilet paper should be flushed down your toilet. That is it. Do not ever flush Facial tissues Baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, moist wipes, etc. (even when it says “OK” for flushing), because these items build up in the pipes and cause unsanitary backups.

    Air Conditioners We do not provide air conditioners, but most apartments have an air conditioner slot for you to insert your own appliance. If you use a window unit, kindly remove the screen, and store it until the end of the cooling season. Contact our Property Manager for help removing air conditioner box covers and screens.

    Fire prevention The top eight causes of house fires are 1. Candles 2. Smoking 3. Electrical and lighting 4. Dryers 5. Lightning 6. Children playing with fire 7. Christmas trees and 8. Cooking. Candles and cigarettes are the two biggest dangers. Burning candles and smoking inside your apartments are strictly forbidden because these actions risk your safety and the safety of others.

  • Page 13 Place trash in sealed plastic bags. Do not leave trash outside the buildings, beside your front door, outside of the dumpster or on top of the dumpster. Please place them inside and close the dumpster doors/cover – again, in order to keep out the animals. Our trash company bans certain items from the trash containers, including mattresses and large furniture.
  • Page 14 If these simple instructions do not work, check your owner's manual or ask your mechanic. Idling Idling for longer than five minutes is against the law. Please also avoid bringing loud-muffler cars or trucks onto the property. Drive slowly! Our speed limit along the driveway is 10 mph. Please be especially careful as you turn the corner around the second building, as children may be playing there.

    LOCAL/REGIONAL INFO Bike Trails We are extremely close to the bike trails! Aster Fields is right on the Mass Central Rail Trail and a 10- minute bike ride from downtown Northampton. Greenways like the bike trail system are important to the Aster Fields community.
