3.7 Components
The power connections at the input and output of the cells are screw connections located at the
front side of the cells. The screw connections are located in the discharge air flow of the cells.
For systems with mechanical cell bypass, the bypass contactors are located on the front panel
of the cells and lie in the discharge air flow of the cells; this means that all busbars and
contactors are air cooled.
NOTICE
Damage when operated without air cooling
If the drive is operated under no-load conditions, the fan must be ready for operation to
dissipate any component power loss. If no airflow is provided to dissipate the heat, then the
drive and/or its associated components can be damaged. If the medium voltage is switched-
in without there being any airflow, then this causes the coordinated input protection system to
trip.
