Belt Maintenance

Check the condition and tension of the alternator belt after
the first day of operation and every 100 operating hours
thereafter.

Tensioning the Alternator Belt

Service Interval: After the first 8 hours
Every 100 hours
1. Open the hood.
2. Check the tension of the alternator belt by depressing
it
(Figure
49) midway between the alternator and the
crankshaft pulleys with 10 kg (22 lb) of force.

The belt should deflect 11 mm (7/16 inch). If the
deflection is incorrect, proceed to step
continue operation.
3. Loosen the bolt securing the brace to the engine
(Figure
49), the bolt securing the alternator to the
brace, and the pivot bolt.
4. Insert a pry bar between the alternator and the engine
and pry out on the alternator.
5. When you achieve the proper tension, tighten the
alternator, brace, and pivot bolts to secure the
adjustment.

Reverse Pedal Action
With the engine switched off, operate the forward and reverse
travel pedals through the full range of articulation and ensure
that the mechanism returns freely to the

1. Sit on the operator's seat and start the engine.
2. Lower the cutting unit to the ground.
3. Engage the cutting unit drive switch.
4. Rise from the operator's seat and check that the cutting
unit comes to a stop after an initial 0.5- to 1-second
delay.
Using the Cutting Unit
Interlock Switch
1. Stop the mower engine.
2. Operate the cutting unit drive switch to the
position and turn the ignition key to position I. The
cutting unit drive switch indicator light should not
illuminate. Refer to
3. Operate the switch to the on position. The indicator
light should illuminate and the engine should not start
when you turn the ignition key.
Using the Parking-Brake
Interlock Switch
1. Stop the engine.
2. Engage the parking brake.
3. Turn the ignition key to position the
