New USB Upgrade Option

To support future upgrades (after v5.0 or later is installed) from a Universal Serial Bus (USB) storage
device (such as a USB "flash" drive), a new USB option has been added to the AWP Upgrade page.
Previously, only Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) upgrades were supported. When the USB
option is selected, the TFTP form is hidden and the USB form is shown instead (and vice versa).
Before using the USB option, see "Important Considerations" on
The USB upgrade form has a single text box and a "Browse USB..." button. The text box can be
used to manually enter a path to the USB storage device where the packages are located.
Alternatively, clicking the browse button initiates a search of the selected USB drive for any packages
that may exist, and then lists the versions available for installation. Upon selecting one of the versions,
the text field is populated with the path.
Clicking the View Package Details buttons reloads the page and shows the current packages
installed, available packages, and their versions. If a change is made to the upgrade location, clicking
View Package Details or Upgrade Now saves the changes and then performs the selected action.
If the upgrade location is changed while viewing package details, a message appears warning that
the package details may need to be refreshed.
This USB upgrade option is available with both the Base Server and PS-1, but performing a USB
upgrade applies only to the system where the USB drive is physically attached. This means that
either two USB drives are needed (one with the Base Server packages and one with the PS-1
packages) or one USB drive with both sets of packages will need to be transferred between systems.
Making changes to the upgrade path location on either the Base Server or the PS-1 does not
propagate the location to the other server.
Prior to v5.0, changes to the upgrade path location would not be allowed if DB Programming was
connected to the system. The ability to change the TFTP server/port/path has been removed from
DB Programming in v5.0, so this restriction is no longer be enforced.

Important Considerations

Please note the following when using a USB flash drive for software upgrades:
Leave the security key in place: If the system uses a USB security key instead of a serialized
compact flash-type card, leave the USB security key in place and use another available USB
port for the USB flash drive.
Use only one flash drive at a time: Besides the USB security key, the MiVoice Office 250
supports only one USB "mount" at a time. So, for example, if you have a USB flash drive
connected for database saves or backing up voice mail data, remove it before inserting the USB
flash drive containing the upgrade software.
Wait ten seconds to swap flash drives: Because the MiVoice Office 250 supports only one
USB mount at a time, you must allow adequate time for the system to unmount/mount devices
