Starting where you left off
Click Start, then Hibernate.
You can also use Hibernation mode. While Standby or
Suspend/Resume (memory) mode saves your current work to
memory in Long Life mode, Hibernation mode saves it to the
hard disk.
TECHNICAL NOTE: If you use Standby and your battery dies,
you will lose the information held in memory. With
Hibernation mode, you will not lose that information.

Using Standby command

Standby command maintains the operating state of your computer
in memory while the computer is off
whenever you turn the computer on you'll be able to continue
working where you left off.
NOTE: Standby command is not available on Windows NT.
To shut down the computer using Standby:
In Windows 98 Second Edition,
click Start, Shut down, select Stand by, and click OK.
