4.1.2 Clearance Measurements
Rules
If you adhere to the minimum clearance measurements:
S You will ensure that the S7-300 modules do not get too hot.
S You will have adequate space for inserting and removing the S7-300 modules.
S You will have sufficient space for running cables.
S If you use a shield contact element, you can connect shielded cables directly
with the rail (see Section 5.2.4). This increases the height of the S7-300
mounting rack to 185 mm. You must, however, still maintain a clearance of
40 mm.
Clearance Measurements
Figure 4-2 shows you the clearance measurements to nearby cable ducts,
apparatus, cabinet walls etc. for an ET 200M installation.
If you use a shield contact element, the dimension specifications apply from the
lower edge of the shield contact element.

Specifications Reference Manual.
