10. COPYING WITH COPY DENSITY SELECTION

There are tw o types of exposure: autom atic exposure and m anual exposure.
In the autom atic exposure m ode, the copier autom atically detects the density of the original,
and selects the optim um exposure. This m ode is suitable for originals containing only text
and illustrations. Originals w ith black areas and halftoned originals should be copied in the
m anual exposure m ode.
In the m anual exposure m ode, you can produce lighter or darker copies.
Copying in the Automatic Exposure Mode

M ake sure that "AUTO" is displayed.
. If "Manual" is displayed, press the key, then
press the AUTO key.

Place the original and press the START key.
. The copier autom atically detects the density
of the original, and m akes copies at the
optim um exposure.
Copying in the M anual Exposure M ode

Press the TEXT/ PHOTO key.

Press the
manual exposure mode.
. To produce lighter copies, press the

and your copies are produced proportionally
