. Keep everyone and flammable
materials away from the diesel
particulate filter and exhaust pipe
while the engine is running. The
exhaust gas is very hot.
NOTE
. While the soot is burning in the
diesel particulate filter, the driveability,
engine revolutions, engine sound and
smell of emission gas may change.
. If any service or maintenance is
necessary for the diesel particulate
filter, it should be performed by a
well-trained expert. In some cases, the
work requires maintenance of the on-
board computer system using a special
tool. Otherwise, the diesel particulate
filter warning light will not operate
properly. Therefore, we recommend
that you contact your SUBARU dealer
for service or maintenance of the diesel
particulate filter. Fully trained techni-
cians are on standby at the SUBARU
dealer to utilize the special tools and
spare parts.

Periodic inspections

To keep your vehicle in the best condition
at all times, always have the recom-
mended maintenance services listed in
the maintenance schedule performed at
the specified time or mileage intervals.
