System start

After a system start (or a reset) the BTL is started according to the state chart.

Power_on

Only in the "Power_on" state does
a slave accept a
"Set_Slave_Address" telegram
from a master for changing the
station address. For this the slave
has a non-volatile memory for
storing the address.
2.2
Wait_Prm (Wait for
parameterizing)
After an internal runup the slave
expects a parameterizing telegram
(or a "Get_Cfg" - "Slave_Diag"
telegram). All other telegram types
are rejected by the slave or it does
not process them. Data exchange
is not yet possible.
The parameterizing telegram
contains at minimum the
information specified in the
standard, e.g. Ident Number,
sync-freeze capability, master
address, watchdog time etc. User-
specific parameter data are also
possible. The meaning of these
data will be explained later.
2.3
Wait_Cfg (Wait for
configuration)
The configuration telegram
specifies the number of in- and
output bytes. The master tells the
slave how many bytes of I/O are
to be exchanged with this slave in
each message cycle. In the case
of the Micropulse transducer the
ASIC transfers the configuration to
the application for checking. The
check results then in either a
correct or incorrect configuration. It
is also possible to query any
master for the configuration of any
slave using the telegram
"Get_Cfg". A "Get_Cfg" telegram
is accepted by a slave in any
state. Since a Class 2 master
does not know the configuration of
a slave, for control purposes it
must first read out the
configuration with a "Get_Cfg"
telegram and then declare it valid
with "Chk.Cfg".
2.4

Data_Exch (Data exchange)

If both the parameterizing and the
configuration were accepted, the
slave assumes the state
"Data_Exch", i.e. it can exchange
data with the master.
