Check and Clean Air Filter Elements
CAUTION: Avoid injury! Touching
hot surfaces can burn skin. The
engine and components will be hot
if the engine has been running.
Allow the engine to cool before
servicing.
IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Dirt and debris
can enter the engine through a damaged filter
element:
Do not wash paper element.
Do not attempt to clean paper element
by tapping against another object.
Do not use pressurized air to clean
element.
Replace element only if it is very dirty,
damaged or the seal is cracked.
Check and clean air filter elements at the
recommended intervals. See
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE on page 44.

Check Spark Plugs
CAUTION: Avoid injury! Touching

Replacing Fuel Filter
CAUTION: Avoid injury! Fuel vapors
are explosive and flammable:
Do not smoke while handling
fuel.
Keep fuel away from flames
or sparks.
Shut off engine before
servicing.
Cool engine before servicing.
Work in a well-ventilated
area.
Clean up spilled fuel
immediately.
1. Park unit safely. (See PARKING on
page 19.)
2. Disconnect the fuel hose from the outlet
side (A) of the fuel filter, and drain
gasoline into a properly marked
container.

3. Remove the fuel filter from the inlet fuel
hose. Discard filter in appropriate
manner.
IMPORTANT: When installing a new fuel
filter, the filter arrow must be pointing in the
direction of fuel flow.
4. Connect a new fuel filter to hoses.
5. Install hose clamps.
TRANSMISSION SERVICE
Hydraulic Oil
Use only 20W-50 non-detergent hydraulic oil.
Checking Transmission Oil Level
1. Park unit safely. (See PARKING on
page 19.)
2. Remove hydraulic reservoir cap; the oil
level should be 5 in. (127 mm) from the
top of the filler pipe. Add oil as needed.
Changing Transmission Oil and Filter
1. Park unit safely. (See PARKING on
page 19.)
2. Allow engine and hydraulic reservoir to
cool.
3. Clean area around reservoir filler cap
(Figure 5, Item 4 and Figure 6, Item 6)
and oil filter mount (A). See Figure 31.
4. Place a properly marked container with
a capacity of at least 5 qt (4.7 L) under
the hydraulic filter.
5. Turn hydraulic filter counterclockwise to
remove and drain oil.
