ADDITIONAL CUTTING HEIGHT
WARNING: Sharp edges can cut.
Moving parts can cut off fingers or a
hand. Wrap blade(s), wear sturdy
gloves and use extreme caution
when servicing. On multi-blade
mowers, rotation of one blade will
cause all blades to rotate.
When the deck is adjusted to its highest level,
up to an additional 3/4 in. (18 mm) of cutting
height can be gained by removing one, two or
three blade spacers from each blade
(Figure 21).
Blade
Figure 21
Each blade spacer is 1/4 in. (6 mm). If two or
three spacers are removed, shorter blade hex
bolts (G) must be used. The shorter blade
bolts are are stored in the frame (F) above
the deck, under the belt cover. These bolts
are used to retain the HOC spacers (B) when
not in use. See Figure 19.
CAUTION: Do not add or remove blade
spacers to change cut heights if within the
normal deck cut height range (Figure 20).
Blade spacers are only removed to achieve
cutting heights greater than 4.25" (108 mm).
To gain additional cut height:
1. Set deck to maximum cut height. See
Check Neutral on page 25.
2. Remove blades. See on page 36.
3. Remove or add blade spacers to
achieve the desired cutting height.
NOTE: Store removed blade spacers on hex
bolts (G). See Figure 19.

ADJUSTING DECK HEIGHT –
FIXED/FLOAT OPTION
To raise or lower the deck height, remove the
hair pins (1) and place in the appropriate
holes on the height-of-cut pins (2) to achieve
desired deck height. See Figure 22.
NOTE: Always store the hair pins on the
HOC (height-of-cut) pins.
For fixed deck operation, place lower hair
pins in height-of-cut pin holes directly below
frame (Hole 4 in Figure 20) to eliminate
Blade
vertical travel (float) of deck during operation.
Spacers
For floating deck operation, lower hair pins
should be placed in the lowest height-of-cut
pin hole below frame (Hole 6 in Figure 20).
Make sure hair pins are located in the same
holes at all deck mounting locations.
