FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION

INSPECTION
Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 34.
1. Check the front fork assembly by
locking the front brake and pumping the
fork up and down vigorously. Suspension
action should be smooth and there must
be no oil leakage.
2. Swing arm bearings - this can be checked
by pushing hard against the side of
the rear wheel while the vehicle is
on a Center stand. Freeplay indicates
worn bearings.
3. Carefully inspect all front and rear
suspension fasteners for tightness.

SIDE STAND

Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 34.
Check the "Side Stand Spring" (1) for
damage and loss of tension, and the side
stand assembly for freedom of movement.
If the side stand is squeaky or stiff, clean
the pivot area and lubricate the pivot bolt
with clean engine oil.

WHEEL REMOVAL

Refer to the
Safety Precautions on
Front Wheel Removal
(for Drum & Drum CBS)
1. Place the vehicle on its center stand.
2. Raise the front wheel off the ground by
placing a support block under the engine.
3. Remove the "Speedometer Cable" (1)
by pushing the "Tab" (2).
4. Drum: Remove the "Front Brake Adjusting
Nut" (3) and remove the "Front Brake
Cable" (4) from the "Brake Arm" (5).
Drum CBS: Remove "Adjusting Nut
A" (6), "Adjusting Nut B" (7) and
