Notice

This manual is part of the scope of delivery of your R88L-EA-AF linear axis.
OMRON EUROPE B.V. products are manufactured for use according to proper procedures by a qualified operator
and only for the purposes described in this manual.
The following conventions are used to indicate and classify precautions in this manual. Always heed the informa-
tion provided with them. Failure to heed precautions can result in injury or damage to property.
All technical information written or described within this manual is believed to be accurate as of the date of the pub-

Please read each section in its entirety and make sure you understand the information provided in the section and
related sections before attempting any of the procedures or operations described.
Furthermore the R88L-EA-AF linear axis series must comply with the local rules, regulations, preventive accident
and environmental protection measures, in force in the country of installation.

Intended audience
This manual is intended for personnel with knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems who are responsible
for the design, installation and management of factory automation systems and facilities.

General Precautions

The user must operate the product according to the performance specifications described in this manual. Before
using the product under conditions which are not described in the manual or applying the product to nuclear control
systems, railroad systems, aviation systems, vehicles, safety equipment, petrochemical plants, or other systems,
machines and equipment that can cause serious injury or damage to life, limb and property if used improperly, con-
sult your OMRON representative.
Safety precautions
Powerful magnetic induction may cause irreversible heart damage to persons using
pacemakers.
Make sure to keep any kind of magnetically sensitive devices away from the linear system
or its individual components.
Do not approach the system with ferromagnetic tools.
Moving parts of the system can crush hands, fingers and other extremities.
Magnetic components must be handled carefully and kept far away from any kind of metal
parts and other magnet tracks.
Do not attempt to dismantle the unit do not touch any of the internal parts while power is
being supplied or the system is in motion.
Failsafe measures must be taken by the customer to ensure safety in the event of incorrect,
missing, or abnormal signals caused by broken signal lines, momentary power interruptions
or other causes. Failure to do so may result in serious accidents.
