Serial Interface

The Serial module on the front panel of the Secure Router 3120 provides
two or four ports for connecting to Serial interfaces. The port connectors
can support the following cable interfaces:
You can configure the serial mode on the Secure Router 3120 Serial
interface to support any of the cables listed using the cable_type
command. You can also use the mode command to specify whether the
interface is in DCE or DTE operational mode (the default mode is DTE).
When the Secure Router 3120 is powered on with a serial configuration,
the serial interface software polls the port hardware status 10 times per
second to ensure the connected cables match the port configurations.
If a connected cable does not match the cable type and operational
mode settings, the LED turns red and the port hardware is disabled, thus
preventing damage to internal and external hardware components.
