REM OVING THE CAM SHAFTS
1. Align:
• TDC m ark on the pickup coil rotor
(w ith the crankcase m ating surface)
a. Turn the crankshaft clockw ise.
b. When piston #1 is at TDC on the com -
pression
m ark a on the pickup coil rotor w ith
the crankcase m ating surface b.
NOTE:
TDC on the com pression stroke can be
found w hen the cam shaft lobes are
turned aw ay from each other.
2. Rem ove:
• float cham ber air vent hose holder
• tim ing chain tensioner
3. Rem ove:
• tim ing chain guide (exhaust side)
4. Rem ove:
• cam shaft caps
• dow el pins
CAUTION:
ACHTUNG:
To prevent damage to the cylinder
head, camshafts or camshaft caps,
loosen the camshaft cap bolts in stages
and in a crisscross pattern, w orking
from the outside in.
5. Rem ove:
• intake cam shaft 1
• exhaust cam shaft 2
NOTE:
To prevent the tim ing chain from falling
into the crankcase, fasten it w ith a
w ire 3.
