PASO 59:
Inspección de la Cadena de Transmisión

Nunca efectúe ajustes e inspecciones en la cadena de
transmisión (1) con el motor accionado.
Apague el motor, apoye la motocicleta en el soporte
central y cambie la marcha al punto muerto.
Verifique la holgura de la cadena de transmisión en la
parte inferior entre el piñon y la corona.
Holgura de la cadena de transmisión: 10 – 20 mm
AJUSTE DE LA HOLGURA DE LA CADENA
Afloje la tuerca del eje trasero (1).
Gire las tuercas de ajuste (2) de ambos lados un número
igual de vueltas hasta obtener la holgura correcta.

Verifique si el eje trasero está correctamente alineado.
Las mismas marcas de referencia de los ajustadores (3)
deben estar alineadas con las mismas marcas de la
escala grabada en los extremos del brazo oscilante (4).
Apriete la tuerca del eje trasero (1).
PAR DE APRIETE: 88 N.m (8,8 kg.m)
Apriete las tuercas de ajuste.
Verifique nuevamente la holgura de la cadena de
transmisión.
PASO 60:
Juego del Pedal del Freno Trasero
Apoye la motocicleta en su soporte central.
El juego del freno trasero es la distancia recorrida por el
pedal del freno (1) hasta el inicio del frenado y debe ser
de 20 – 30 mm, medido en el extremo del pedal.
Para ajustar el juego, gire la tuerca de ajuste (2) en el
sentido deseado.
(A) Disminuye el juego
Accione el pedal del freno trasero varias veces y
verifique si la rueda gira libremente al soltarlo.
NOTA
Asegúrese de que el rebaje de la tuerca de ajuste esté
asentado sobre el pasador del pivote (3) del brazo del
freno después del ajuste del juego.
(B) Aumenta el juego

STEP 59:

Drive Chain Inspection

Never inspect and adjust the drive chain (1) while
the engine is running.
With the engine stopped, place the motorcycle on its center
stand and shift the transmission into neutral.
Measure the drive chain slack in the lower drive chain run
midway between the sprockets.
Drive chain slack: 10 – 20 mm (2/5 – 3/4 in)

DRIVE CHAIN SLACK ADJUSTMENT

Loosen the rear axle nut (1).
Turn both adjusting nuts (2) an equal number of turns until
the correct slack is obtained.

Check if the rear axle is properly aligned. Make sure
the index marks on both adjusters (3) align with the
same graduation scales at the swing arm (4) ends.
Tighten the rear axle nut (1).
TORQUE: 88 N.m (8.8 kg·m, 65 lbf.ft)
Tighten both adjusting nuts securely.
Recheck the drive chain slack and free wheel rotation.
STEP 60:

Brake Pedal Free Play

Support the motorcycle on its center stand.
Measure the rear brake pedal free play at the tip of the
pedal. The play is the distance the brake pedal (1) moves
until the beginning of actual braking.
Free play: 20 – 30 mm (3/4 – 1-1/4 in)
If adjustment is necessary, turn the adjusting nut (2) in the
desired direction.
(A) Decrease play
Apply the rear brake several times and check if the wheel
turns freely when the pedal is released.
NOTE
Make sure the cut-out of the adjusting nut is seated on
the brake arm pin (3) after the adjustment.
(B) Increase play
