Drives
Three types of drives are available: 2.5" drives, 3.5" drives, and 3.5" drives for high-density drive enclosures.
Up to twenty-four 2.5" drives can be installed in a single 2.5" type controller enclosure. Up to twelve 3.5" drives
can be installed in a single 3.5" type controller enclosure.
For the ETERNUS DX500 S5/DX600 S5/DX900 S5, slots 16 - 23 of a 2.5" controller enclosure are shared slots that
can be used for both PFMs and drives. If PFMs are installed in slots 16 - 23, up to sixteen 2.5" drives can be
installed.
Drives can be added during system operation. When an error occurs, replacement operations can be performed
while the system is running.
