NFS Operation

This section describes an operation in which the NFS protocol is used.
Note
During the configuration phase
If a data write needs to be ensured, mount the NFS client with the "sync" option to make sure the data is
written in the ETERNUS DX.
Without the "sync" option, the data may not be written immediately in the ETERNUS DX if the NFS client is
used for cache or if a network error occurs.
During the operation phase
• For the procedure to mount from an NFS client, refer to "Access from NFS Clients" in "Configuration/
Operation Guide (NAS)".
• Mount an NFS shared folder from an NFS client using the NAS interface IP address that is associated with
the NAS shared folder. If a different NAS interface IP address in the same CM is used, NFS access
becomes unavailable after a failover/failback occurs.

Enabling / Disabling NFSv4.0
For the NFS protocol versions, NFSv4.0 is disabled by default.
The following procedure shows the operations for enabling or disabling NFSv4.0.

If the NAS volumes of the ETERNUS DX are mounted with NFS mount using the NFS client, unmount the
NAS volume.

For the ETERNUS CLI "set nas-server" command, specify "enable" or "disable" for the "-nfsv4" parameter
and execute.

Stop all server access connecting with the SAN environment.

Use ETERNUS Web GUI or ETERNUS CLI to reboot the ETERNUS DX.

Mount the NAS volumes in the ETERNUS DX from the NFS client.
Caution
During the configuration phase
Be sure to reboot the ETERNUS DX after using this procedure to change "enable" or "disable" for the "-
nfsv4" parameter of the "set nas-server" command. If the operation is resumed without rebooting the
ETERNUS DX, access may stop when a failover or a failback is triggered by a controller failure.
