Figure 11-11 shows the front of an HP A3183A DDS-2 tape drive.

Specifications
o Integrated Single-ended SCSI-2 interface
o Reads and Writes DDS-1 and DDS-2 formats dependent on the mounted tape dimension:
• 60 meter tape - DDS-1 = 1.3 Gbytes
• 90 meter tape - DDS-1 = 2.0 Gbytes
• 120 meter tape - DDS-2 = 4.0 Gbytes With Data Compression enabled.
The above capacities will increase from 2 to 4 times the non-compressed capacities. The average
data compression factor is 2 to 1.
