Cell broadcasting prerequisites
• Verify that your wireless service provider supports this feature.
• Verify that your wireless service provider has provided you with access to a cell broadcast channel.
Turn on cell broadcasting
1. In the device options, click Advanced Options.
2. Click Cell Broadcast.
3. Set the Cell Broadcasting Service field to On.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Save.
Note: To turn off cell broadcasting, set the Cell Broadcasting Service field to Off. Some wireless
service providers might use cell broadcast messages to manage certain services, such as preferred rates
based on your location. Before you turn off cell broadcasting, determine whether your wireless service
provider uses cell broadcast messages to manage your services.
Subscribe to a cell broadcast channel
1. In the device options, click Advanced Options.
2. Click Cell Broadcast.
3. Highlight a channel.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Add Channel.
Stop receiving cell broadcast messages from a channel
Some wireless service providers might use cell broadcast messages to manage certain services, such
as preferred rates based on your location. Before you stop receiving cell broadcast messages from a
channel, verify that your wireless service provider does not manage your services using that channel.
1. In the device options, click Advanced Options.
2. Click Cell Broadcast.
3. Highlight a channel.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Perform one of the following actions:
• To stop receiving messages from the channel, click Disable.
• To delete the channel, click Delete Channel.
Rename a cell broadcast channel
1. In the device options, click Advanced Options.
2. Click Cell Broadcast.
3. Highlight a channel.
4. Press the Menu key.
