About smart password entry
If you use two-factor authentication and your BlackBerry® device password or authenticator password
is numeric, you might be able to use smart password entry in some password fields. When you turn on
smart password entry, your device remembers whether the last password that you typed in a password
field was numeric and if it was, the next time that you type the password your device applies a numeric
filter. When the filter is applied you do not have to press the Alt key to type the numbers. An icon beside
the password field indicates that a numeric filter is applied.
Turn off smart password entry
You might want to turn off smart password entry to reduce the chance of a stranger guessing your device
password or authenticator password based on the filter applied.
1. In the device options, click Security Options.
2. Click General Settings.
3. Set the Smart Password Entry field to Disabled.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Save.
To turn on smart password entry, set the Smart Password Entry field to Enabled.
