Knowing the Basics
Press and hold
to change the input language or set up the Gboard.
Press and hold
and slide to
to change to a smaller keyboard for easier
one-handed typing. Tap

to switch to the right-hand or left-hand keyboard,
respectively, or tap
to adjust the size and position of the keyboard. Tap
switch back to the full-sized keyboard.
Glide Typing
Gboard supports the glide-typing feature. Use this feature to input a word by sliding
from letter to letter on the keyboard.
Start of the word
To enable and use glide typing:
1. Press and hold
on the Gboard, and then tap Gboard keyboard settings.
2. Tap Glide typing > Enable glide typing if this feature is turned off.
3. On the Gboard keyboard, slide your finger from letter to letter to trace a word without
lifting the finger until you reach the end of the word.

Google Voice Typing
Google voice typing uses the Google voice recognition service to convert speech to text.
1. Tap
2. When you see the microphone image, speak what you want to type.
3. You can continue entering text or tap an underlined word to change or delete it.
End of the word
NOTE: Say "comma, " "period, " "question mark, " "exclamation mark, " or "exclamation point"
to enter punctuation.
Input Method Settings
Choose the input method settings by swiping on the home screen and tapping Settings
> System > Languages & input > Virtual keyboard. You can set the current input
method and choose the settings for input methods.
Tap to type when you want to. If you want to enter a single letter, simply tap the key once.
Lift your finger at the end of the word. A space is added automatically when you
begin to trace the next word.
to access the voice-typing feature when you are using Gboard, or flick down the
Status Bar when entering text and tap Change keyboard > Google voice typing.
