ASSEMBLY
INSTALLING THE BLADE
See Figure 23 - 24.
NOTICE:
To work properly, the saw blade teeth must point
down toward the front of the saw. Failure to heed
this warning could cause damage to the saw
blade, the saw, or the workpiece.
The blade and blade wrenches are located on the side of the
saw in the storage area. Twist the knob counterclockwise
to remove it.
 Unplug the saw.
 Remove the blade and two blade wrenches from the
storage area.
 Raise the blade arbor by unlocking the height adjusting
handwheel and turning it clockwise.
 Make sure the bevel lock knob is tightened.
 Remove the blade washer and the blade nut from the
arbor shaft.
 Unlock the release lever by pulling it up.
 Place the new blade on the arbor shaft (blade teeth must
point down toward the front of the saw to work properly).
 Place the blade washer and the blade nut over the arbor
shaft. Be sure the dome side of the blade washer faces
out from the blade and that all items are snug against the
arbor housing.
 Using the open end blade wrench, place the flat open
end into the flats on the arbor shaft.
 Insert the closed end of the other blade wrench over the
hex nut. Holding both wrenches firmly, push the closed
end wrench to the back of the machine. Make sure the
blade nut is securely tightened. Do not overtighten.
NOTE: Arbor shaft has right-hand threads.
 Lock the release lever by pushing the lever down.
 Rotate the blade by hand to make sure it turns freely.
 Lower the blade by unlocking the height adjusting
handwheel and turning it counterclockwise.
 Install the throat plate as described later.
 Check all clearances for free blade rotation.
When finished, check all clearances for free blade rotation.
Refer to To Set the Rip Fence Scale Indicator to the Blade
in the Operation section earlier in this manual. In cutting
operations, the scale will be set to the side of the blade
where the cut will be measured and made.
