Installing the Ethernet surge arrester

An Ethernet surge arrester is provided as an accessory with the AP8120-O access point. It is
for indoor installation and it provides lightning and surge protection for indoor Ethernet
equipment that are connected to AP8120-O. The Ethernet surge arrester is compatible with
Power Over Ethernet (POE) devices and supports normal and reverse polarity PoE. For a
typical installation, refer to the following diagram.
Note:
If you are using the Avaya PoE injector, you are not required to connect the Ethernet surge
arrester, because the Avaya PoE injector already has internal surge protection.
Warning:
The Ethernet surge arrester is an indoors unit only. You must not install the unit outdoors.
