Installing the Ethernet surge arrester

An Ethernet surge arrester is provided as an accessory with the AP8120-O access point. It is for
indoor installation and it provides lightning and surge protection for indoor Ethernet equipment that
are connected to AP8120-O. The Ethernet surge arrester is compatible with Power Over Ethernet
(POE) devices and supports normal and reverse polarity PoE. For a typical installation, refer to the
following diagram.
Note:
If you are using the Avaya PoE injector, you are not required to connect the Ethernet surge arrester,
because the Avaya PoE injector already has internal surge protection.
Warning:
The Ethernet surge arrester is an indoors unit only. You must not install the unit outdoors.
