Power and motor terminal layout
Terminals not usually utilised for Frame size A ... C are protected by a feature integral to the
plastic housing. If access to the terminal is required, the two upper plastic protectors can be
removed using a suitable pair of pliers. Ensure that no plastics from the protectors fall into
the inverter housing.
The figure below shows the layout of the power and motor terminals of the PM240 Frame
Sizes A ... F. The figure also includes the tightening torques for the terminals.

Line commutating choke (Input choke)
Line commutating chokes are used to smooth voltage peaks (line disturbances) or to bridge
commutating dips. In addition, line commutation chokes reduce the effects of harmonics on
the SINAMICS G120 power module and on the power supply. If the line impedance is less
than 1 % (stiff supply) then a line commutation choke must be used to reduce the current
peaks and to protect the SINAMICS G120 power module.
For more information on input chokes, please refer to the product catalog.
