from the remote terminal
HX50/HX100 Remote Terminal
This chapter explains how to register or commission a remote
terminal for service. Procedures are provided for the following
commissioning methods:
• Satellite-based commissioning on page 25
• Manual commissioning on page 38
Note: The procedures in this chapter assume a Windows
computer is used to commission the remote terminal. If a different
platform is used, substitute commands appropriate to that
platform.
Satellite-based commissioning (SBC) is the preferred
commissioning method. Commissioning the remote terminal
using SBC consists of the following tasks:

• Obtaining an IP address from the remote terminal

• Uploading the SBC configuration file to the HX50/HX100
• Commissioning the HX50/HX100
Note: In the following procedures, installer laptop is the
computer, typically a laptop, used to connect to and commission a
remote terminal.
1. Ensure that the installer laptop is configured to use the
Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) to obtain an IP
address. Refer to Appendix A for instructions on how to
configure a Windows computer to use DHCP.
2. Verify that the installer laptop is connected to the remote
terminal with an Ethernet cable.
3. Open a command window on the installer laptop and enter
commands appropriate to your operating system to obtain an
