Installing the Hardware

This chapter explains how to install HX50 and HX100 hardware
components. It discusses the following topics:
• Assembling and adjusting the antenna on page 17
• Attaching the HX50 remote terminal to the pedestal base on
page 17

• Connecting the receive and transmit cables to the remote

terminal on page 19
• Connecting component cables on page 20
• Powering up and observing HX50/HX100 LEDs on page 22
HX50 and HX100 remote terminals can be used with a 74cm,
.98m, 1.2m, or 1.8m two-way antenna. Use the appropriate
antenna installation manual to assemble and install the antenna
assembly. Label the receive and transmit cables at both the
exterior point-of-entry and the indoor location where the remote
terminal will be installed by wrapping a small piece of red
electrical tape around the receive cable and writing SAT IN on the
tape, then wrapping a small piece of blue electrical tape around
the transmit cable and writing SAT OUT on the tape.
If you are installing an HX50 remote terminal and you want to
mount the device vertically, refer to Figure 10 and follow the
steps below to attach the remote terminal to the pedestal base.
Skip to Connecting the receive and transmit cables to the remote
terminal on page 19 if the unit will not be attached to a pedestal
base.
1. Position the remote terminal and pedestal base as shown in
Figure 10.
