Em ergency-starting and T o w in g th e V ehicle
Starting th e Engine w ith
J u m per Cable (35 m m 2 M in i­
mum Cable Cross Section) and
A uxiliary (Booster) B attery
Connect positive ( + ) term inal of
auxiliary battery to positive term i­
nal of car battery and negative ( — )
terminal of the auxiliary battery to
the negative term inal o f the car
battery. If the battery of another
vehicle is used, the engine of the
other car should be run at high idle.
A fte r the engine has started, first
disconnect the negative terminal
and then the positive terminal.
If the engine is started w ith charg­
ing equipm ent, the battery m ust
be connected.

The vehicle may be tow ed w ith the
driving wheels on the ground and
the selector lever in position "N "
fo r distances up to 75 miles
(120 km ) and at a speed not to ex­
ceed 30 mph (50 km /h).
To positively avoid a possibility of
damage to the transm ission, h o w ­
ever, we recomm end to disconnect
the drive shaft at the rear axle
drive flange on any tow ing beyond
a short to w to a nearby garage.

If the engine continues operating
in steering lock position "0", open
hood and press lever marked
"S TO P" tow ards engine until it
stops.
