Parking Brake

Depress parking brake pedal.
W hen the steering lock key is in
position "2", the brake warning
light in the instrum ent cluster
comes on.
To release, pull release button
on the instrum ent panel. The
parking brake releases in one rapid
m ovement. The parking brake
warning light in the instrum ent
cluster m ust go out.
S ta rtin g and Turning o ff th e Engine
Engage parking brake or service
brake before starting the engine.
M ove gearshift lever to neutral
(selector lever positions "P " or "N "
on autom atic transmissions).
Depress accelerator halfw ay and
turn idle speed adjuster counter­
clockw ise to the stop. Then release
accelerator.

Turn key in steering lock to posi­
tion "2". Charge indicator and pre­
glow ing indicator light must
come on.
The preglowing process then be­
gins. The engine can be started as
soon as the preglowing indicator
light has gone out. Since the glow
plugs continue glow ing fo r up to
1.5 m inutes, the engine can be
restarted during this period w ith o u t
preglowing again.
