Do not store any objects in the
driver's footw ell area because they
could become lodged under the
operator's pedals thus rendering
these controls partially or totally
inoperative.
Test the service brake shortly after
driving off.
W arm the engine sm oothly. Do not
place full load on the engine until
the operating tem perature has
been reached.

Engage reverse gear only w ith the
vehicle at standstill; pull up gear
shift lever and engage reverse gear
shortly after declutching.
Do n ot exceed the m axim um speed
in the individual gears. See line
markings on the speedometer.
Note:
W hen parking the vehicle, engage
1st or reverse gear and depress
parking brake pedal.

The autom atic transmission facili
tates and simplifies the handling of
the vehicle. The individual gears
are shifted autom atically depen
dent upon selector lever position,
vehicle speed and accelerator
position.
Hint
W hen parking the vehicle or if
w orking on the vehicle w ith the
engine running, depress parking
brake pedal and move selector
lever to position "P ".
Starting
S h ift selector lever to the desired
driving position only w hen the
engine is idling and the service
brake is applied. Do not release the
brake before m oving off. The ve
hicle may otherw ise start creeping
when the selector lever is in a
driving position.
