Using the HC700-G

Persistent Registry Reset (Clean Registry)

The Registry is a database which stores settings and options for the Windows Mobile operating
system. It contains information and settings of all the hardware, software, users, preferences of the
HC700-G and more. For example: Whenever the initial settings of the HC700-G are changed, or
software is installed, the changes are recorded and stored in the registry.
The Registry Reset operation is a way to return the default registry settings of the operating system
(last software image defaults).
Important note: The Registry Reset operation deletes all files from IPSM directory and performs
cold boot the HC700-G.
Following Clean Registry the operating system automatically stores a new registry file in the IPSM
directory.
To reset the persistent registry, perform Cold Reset and than, immediately, before the HC700-G boots-
up, hold down the <S> and <X> and <H> keys for 5 seconds. The HC700-G will boot-up, showing the
Motorola logo on the screen with the following line of text on the upper left corner: "clean registry
boot ...".
