Problem
Does not punch hole.
Requires excessive lever
force.
Pump does not build
pressure.
Excessive number of strokes
are required to punch hole.
Does not return piston.
External oil leaks.

Probable Cause
Improper assembly or use of punch,
die, or accessories.
Low oil level.
Improper assembly or use of punch,
die, or accessories.
Material being punched is too thick or
too hard.
Air in system.
Inoperative intake check valve.
Inoperative discharge check valve.
Leaking release valve.
Damaged piston, piston extension,
pump plunger seals, or mating
surfaces.
Clogged filter.
Weak or damaged return spring;
excess oil in unit.
Damaged piston, piston extension,
pump plunger seals, or mating
surfaces.
Damaged release valve stem seal.
