TROUBLESHOOTING

CAUSE
Out of fuel.
Spark plug wire is disconnected.
Dirty air filter.
Stale fuel.
Dirt or water in fuel.
Dirty or bad spark plug.
Bad spark plug wire.
Valves out of adjustment.
Vent in filler cap clogged.
sticking or damaged.
Dirty air filter.
Dirt or water in fuel.
Valves out of adjustment.
Muffler clogged or damaged.
Oil level too high.
Dirty air filter.
Dirt or water in fuel.
Dirty or bad spark plug.
Cooling fins clogged.
Oil level too low.
Muffler clogged or damaged.
Engine flywheel brake is on
when control bar is released.
Bent crankshaft.
Oil level too high.
Dirty air filter.

CORRECTION
1.
Fill fuel tank as shown in the "Pre-
Operation" section of this manual.
2.
Connect wire to spark plug.
3.
Clean or replace air filter as shown in
the "Maintenance" section of this
manual.
4.
Empty fuel tank and drain carburetor
bowl; then refill tank with fresh,
clean gasoline.
5.
Empty fuel tank and drain carburetor
bowl; then refill tank with fresh,
clean gasoline.
6.
Clean or replace spark plug.
7.
Replace spark plug wire.
8.
Adjust valve clearance
(see Product Specifications).
9.
Clean filler cap vent.
10. Clean or replace the carburetor float.
11. Depress control bar to handle.
12. Replace control bar.

Clean or replace air filter as shown in
the "Maintenance" section of this
manual.
2.
Empty fuel tank and refill tank
with fresh, clean gasoline.
3.
Adjust valve clearance
(see Product Specifications).
4.
Clean or replace muffler.
5.
Check oil level as shown in the
"Maintenance" section of this manual.

Clean or replace air filter as shown in
"Maintenance" section of this manual.
2.
Empty fuel tank and refill tank
with fresh, clean gasoline.
3.
Clean or replace spark plug.

Clean cooling fins.

Add oil as shown in the
"Maintenance" section of this manual.

Clean or replace muffler.

Depress control bar to upper handle
before pulling starter rope.

Contact an authorized Service
Center for repairs.

Check oil dipstick. If oil level is over
upper mark, drain oil until at
recommended level.
2.
Clean or replace air filter as shown in
"Maintenance" section of this manual.
